Abysmal

Extremely bad or of a low standard.

"The company's third-quarter profits were abysmal, leading to a series of budget cuts and a restructuring of the management team."

Dismal

Sad and without hope; very bad.

"The weather was dismal; gray skies and continuous rain cast a gloomy mood over the entire city."

Fictional

Relating to a story that is invented and not true.

"The novel gave life to a whole world of fictional characters, who seemed almost real to enthusiastic readers."

Figurative

Used in a way that is symbolic rather than literal.

"Her use of 'a blanket of snow' is a figurative expression for the way the snow covered the ground, not to be taken literally."

Hilarious

Extremely funny.

"When the parrot accidentally video-bombed the live news report, everyone thought it was hilarious."

Inspirational

Providing inspiration or encouragement.

"Malala Yousafzai's courageous fight for girls' education in the face of adversity is truly inspirational."

Petrified

Extremely frightened, as if turned to stone.

Spectacular

Very impressive or beautiful.

Extremely frightening but also exciting.

Having a natural ability to do something well.

Boring and too slow or long.
